Skiing and snowboarding are lifetime sports. It’s never too early or too late to start. In order to get the most enjoyment out of the sport, it’s important that you take a lesson from a professional instructor. We will offer group lessons this year to any skier or snowboarder. Your first lesson will help you learn basic turning and speed control.
You may want to give skiing or snowboarding a try before buying your own equipment. We recommend that you rent your equipment from Peak Ski & Snowboard in Plum. That way the shop staff can help you select the proper equipment and make any adjustments when needed. (use the link on the HOME Page)
If this is your 1st Time or 1st Year:
We Highly Recommend at least ONE LESSON.
If you have skied or snowboarded :
But you want to get better.
We Highly Recommend at least ONE LESSON.
Unfortunately, 7-Springs continues to make things more difficult for groups like ours. They no longer offer group lessons after 3:00pm on weekdays and the group lessons they do offer, require that we have at least 15 participants for a minimum of three non-refundable lessons.
So what can you do?

Option 2
BOYCE PARK Private Lesson - BEFORE our 1st trip

If the weather conditions are favorable before our first trip, You could go to our local ski Lodge at Boyce Park and schedule a lesson.
Another Option
BOYCE PARK
Extra Cost
+ $63.00
Most weekdays
Current prices are not yet listed, so this is the price from last season.
Option 3
Parent / Friend - BEFORE or DURING our 1st trip
While having a friend or parent teach you to ski can be convenient and fun, you must first consider both the Pros and Cons of this approach:
Pros:
-
Flexibility: You can set your own pace and schedule based on your friend's availability.
-
Personalized attention: Your friend can focus on your specific needs and challenges.
-
Social aspect: Learning with a friend can be more enjoyable and motivating.
-
Cost-effective: No need to pay for a professional lesson.
Cons:
-
Lack of expertise: A friend might not have the proper teaching skills or knowledge of correct ski technique, leading to bad habits.
-
Safety concerns: Incorrect technique can increase the risk of falls and injuries.
-
Frustration: If your friend gets impatient or struggles to explain concepts, it can lead to frustration for both of you.
-
Limited progression: Without proper instruction, you may plateau in your skill development.
Overall, while learning from a friend can be a fun experience, it's generally recommended to take lessons from a certified ski instructor for the best learning outcomes and safety considerations.
ON THE DAY OF OUR TRIPS
Regardless of which option you chose, when we arrive at Seven Springs, all students that might need a little more extra help are encouraged to go to start their night at the Stowe Beginner Area (by the main lift next to the lodge). Have a friend help you down the beginner slope several times before attempting anything else on the mountain. Once you have mastered your control on the beginners slope ("S" turns, slowing down, stopping, getting back up after you fall, etc.) then work your way slowly through the trails and slopes, focusing mainly on GREENS (the easier slopes/trails).
Mr. Racchini and/or the other chaperones will often start their night at the beginner slopes to help anyone that might need some tips, but realize that they are not certified instructors and are just using their own experience and knowledge of the sport to help you, so it might take a little longer if you have not had any instruction before your first trip.
